Biography
Tracy McMenemy is a multidisciplinary artist born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her practice spans painting, photography, and sculpture, and is shaped by a strong connection to place. Using a range of techniques—including fumage, found objects, and photographic transfer—she explores how landscapes, materials, and histories can be layered and reinterpreted.
Her practice often begins with travel and on-site research. Through work with museums and archives, she investigates and reconsiders cultural and historical narratives, bringing forward stories that are often overlooked or hidden.
Alongside her exhibitions with museums and galleries, Tracy’s work is held in private and corporate collections in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Grand Cayman, and Vancouver. Her Folded Earth series was selected to represent Canada at EXPO 2021 in Dubai as part of the Canadian Pavilion, and her work is included in the Global Affairs Canada Visual Art Collection.
